• STEP 7 •

Make the pleats on all the pockets.

a. Starting at the bottom edge of one long pocket, use a chalk pencil and ruler to measure and mark 4" in from each side seam. Make two more marks, each 4" from the center crease, one on either side of it. Repeat to mark the pleats on the other long pocket.

b. On the bottom edge of each bottle pocket, measure and mark 2" in from each side seam.

c. Fold the first long pocket, Right sides together, at each mark to form a box pleat. Pin in place. Sew a 1" seam, 1/2" from, and parallel to, the folded edge, backstitching at each end.

d. Press the pleat that forms on the back of the pockets toward the center of the panel. Machine baste 1/4" from bottom edge across each pleat.

e. Repeat steps 7c and 7d to make the pleats on the other long pocket and both bottle pockets.
